Ingredients

  • 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 3 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon kosher salt
  • 1 cup whole milk

For the tres leches topping:

  • 1 can (14 ounces) sweetened condensed milk
  • 1 can (14 ounces) evaporated milk
  • ¼ cup whole milk

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F (175 C). Lightly grease a 10 or 12-cup bundt pan with baking spray and set aside.
  2. In the bowl of a stand mixer fitted with the whisk attachment, beat the butter and sugar on medium speed until the mixture lightens in color and becomes fluffy, about 3-5 minutes.
  3. Add the eggs, one at a time, mixing well after each addition until just combined. Beat in the pure vanilla extract.
  4. In a separate medium bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, baking powder, and kosher salt.
  5. Alternatively, add the dry flour mixture and whole milk to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined after each addition. Begin and end with the flour mixture (e.g., add 1/3 flour, mix, 1/2 milk, mix, 1/3 flour, mix, 1/2 milk, mix, 1/3 flour, mix). Be careful not to overmix.
  6. Spoon the prepared batter evenly into the greased bundt pan. Transfer the pan to the preheated oven and bake for 50 minutes to 1 hour, or until a wooden skewer inserted into the center comes out clean.
